Brilliant DJ and a comic who will go somewhere
provided
he keeps working the circuit. Almost every new comic you see on the circuit
these days has some potential otherwise they wouldn't be
doing what they are doing "right" there are however a few who have a grace
and style that puts them slightly above the rest even if just a bit.
Ive always found one of the best ways to determine this is to watch how
the new comedians handle mistakes errors nerves or even death.
When a comedian makes a mistake on stage , then gets the audience on side
laughing with him not at him and not actually feeling sorry for him then
you are looking at someone who has true potential.
Richard Cavell is going to go places if listening to him
on the radio is anything to go by he's seemingly quick wit is delivered
with a casualness that would normally come from quite a few years experience,
he is fully in sync with his co host Cath and is a genuine pleasure to
listen to. 89.9 is a radio station in Australia that deals exclusively
with comedy. It appears to have started out as something akin to a community
station ( the majority of the announcers are testament to this) Richard
however is one of a handful that don't sound like there are reading from
a script his is natural and to be perfectly honest on the ball so to speak.

Richard's standup material is "derived entirely from a Dadaist version of Charles Babbages' mechanical calculator. Each cog has a different word on it -"fish, masturbation, Prozac, etc", cranking the gears around every night to watch the combinations fall into place" He Claims that his is deeply cynical, comedy being an excuse to ridicule the obvious problems of humanity. I just found him clever. In fact a lot of university type humor is evident in his work and he gives one the impression of being rather well read.
Richard tells us that he has other interests. "I enjoy debating and public speaking, playing chess, computer programming, illusionism, martial arts, and writing science fiction. I direct and read the news on 89.9 SYN-FM in Melbourne. I also work on the crew of several Channel 31 programs. Somewhere amongst all of that, I am a medical student as well."
WE WILL BE KEEPING A VERY CLOSE EYE ON THIS FOUR EYED FELLOW.
